Glossary of Terms

Some of the Dota 2 info I am providing requires an explanation. Let's start from the top:


Table of Kills/Death/Assists

Assists: No one seems to no what the official definition of this is. I am using the criteria that the target has to have been killed by someone on your team (or by your side) and that you damaged the target (or hit them with a 0 damage ability ) in the last 20 seconds. Yes 20. 20 seconds leads to accurate results, the traditional 15 seconds does not.

Gold Assist: Player is credited with a Gold Assist if they receive gold from a kill in which they were not the killer (i.e. they were near enough the target that died that they received the gold/exp bonus).

Efficiency: This measures how well the player farmed. If a player remained in lane and killed every single creep, they would be 100% Efficient. This basically gives Gold/Min some context and accounts for the fact that players should be able to get more farm as the game progresses.

Items (Partial List): Sadly, the replays do not allow me to keep track of every item purchased. This is a partial list.


Combat Summary Table

Damage, Healing, Stuns, and Slows are the amount that the corresponding hero did to other heroes (i.e. it is not counting Damage done to creeps, Roshan, etc ). Healing does not count heals using Bottle or Magic Wand but does include most everything else.

Runes: Total number of runes grabbed.

Tower Damage: Damage done by player to all Towers and Barracks. Does not include damage done to the Ancient.

Table of Major Events

I'm willing to change the format on this if readers prefer.

Towers Left: Amount of towers left for each team, first number is Radiant towers (hence the "R") second is the Dire towers remaining.

Items: I do not include every item as some of them are kind of irrelevant ( Clarity, Tango, etc) and some of them are not provided by the replay.

Game Time: This is the first time the item was used, had an effect in combat, or (less often) when it was purchased. For example, a Black King Bar "Game Time" number could be when it was purchased or it could be the first time the Black King Bar was used. If the item is listed in the event table, that is the exact time when the item was purchased.

Times Used: Amount of times the item was used on and effected a hero (some exceptions apply, like for Hand of Midas ).

Total Effect: This is very much item dependent. For Urn it is the total amount of healing and damage done by the Urn, for Bottle it is the amount of health healed, etc.

Avg Effect: Total Effect divided by Times Used.

Times Used Other and Total Effect Other: These columns are item dependent.

Bar Gold Graph

Creep Gold: Gold from ranged, melee, siege, upgraded, and mega creeps.

Kill Gold: Gold from kills and assists.

Jungle Gold: Gold from killing neutrals except for Roshan (Roshan is in Other Gold ).

Tower Gold: Gold from killing towers, barracks, and base buildings

Other Gold: Gold from killing summoned units (like Serpent Wards, Beastmaster Hawk etc), Roshan, and Courier kills.

Special Gold: Gold gotten from Hand of Midas, Track, or Devour.

Default Gold: Gold given automatically to each player. This is 5 gold every 4 seconds.


Gold Earned by Game Time

Radiant players are displayed by solid lines and Dire by dashed lines. The thin black line indicates farming at 100% Efficiency. Sorry about the colors. It is hard to find 10 colors that remain distinct and do not look awful when next to each other.
