Game Summary Item Data

One of the tables included in my game summaries is a table summarizing who bought which items, when they bought them, and how well they used them. This page is about how to read the table. Some caveats on the item data. I ignore some of the minor items--such as clarity, tango etc-- and I am unable to get data on some of the bigger items in some cases so the list is not always complete.

This data ONLY INCLUDES EFFECTS ON OR AGAINST HEROES. For example, when I show the total Radiance burn damage done by the Lone Druid, it is only damage done against enemy heroes and does not include damage to neutrals, creeps, etc. There are some exceptions for this for items that are not used on heroes (such as Hand of Midas, Boots of Travel etc),

The game time for when the items were purchased is approximate. In some cases the game time is the first time the item was used. This is not a big deal for items like Radiance, as they are used very shortly after being purchased. However for items like BKB, the item may not be used for a few minutes after it is purchased. If the item is listed in the Event Log table, that is the exact time the item was purchased.

The remaining columns are item specific. There are six columns: Times Used, Total Effect, Avg Effect, Times Used Other, Total Effect Other, Avg Effect Other. Avg Effect is almost always Total Effect divided by Times Used. In alphabetical order let's go through each item. If the item is not included in this list, then I am not tracking its usage but am tracking when it is purchased.

Armlet of Mordiggian: Times Used is the amount of times the unholy aura is toggled on. Total Effect is the health lost while the item is toggled on.

Battle Fury: Times Used is the amount of auto attacks done and Total Effect is the damage of those attacks.

Black King Bar: Times Used is the amount of times the magic immune effect is activated.

Blade Mail: Times Used is the number of times the reflect is activated and Total Effect is the amount of damage reflected.

Bloodstone: Times Used is the amount of times the hero died and healed allies while Total Effect is the amount healed.

Boots of Travel: Times Used is the number of times the teleport effect is started.

Bottle: Times Used is the number of times the healing effect is started. Total Effect is the amount of health restored and Total Effect Other is the amount of mana restored. These numbers can be slightly misleading if the hero is healed by another source while using the bottle. In that case I limit the amount the bottle healed the hero to the total amount that a bottle can heal a hero in one charge. For example, if the log shows the hero healed 500 health while using the bottle, I limit it to 130 health.

Dagon: Times Used is the number of Dagon blasts done. Total Effect is the damage done. Total Effect Other is the number of kills gotten by the Dagon.

Desolator: Times Used is the number of attacks in which the Desolator debuff is placed on the target.

Diffusal Blade: Times Used is the number of auto attacks in which the target is hit with the Diffusal Blade debuff and Total Effect is the damage done to the target (remember that this damage also mana burns the target). Times Used Other is the amount of times the slow effect from the Diffusal Blade is used.

Drum of Endurance: Times Used is the number of times the active effect is used and Total Effect is the number of allies hit by this.

Ethereal Blade: Times Used is the number of times used and Total Effect is the damage done by the blade.

Eul's Scepter: Times Used is the number of times the cyclone is used.

Force Staff: Times Used is the number of times used total. Times Used Other is the number of times used on someone other than the hero who bought the Force Staff.

Heaven's Halberd: Times Used is the number of times the active effect is used.

Helm of the Dominator: Times Used is the number of auto attacks performed where the hero heals from the life steal effect of the item and Total Effect is the total amount healed.

Maelstrom: Times Used is the number of times the damage effect of the chain lightning hits and Total Effect is the amount of total damage done by these procs.

Magic Wand: Times Used is the number of times used and Total Effect is the total health restored (total mana restored is the same as total health restored).

Manta Style: Times Used is the number of times the split is used. Total Effect is the total damage done by the illusions. Times Used Other is the number of debuffs/buffs dispelled when using the Manta Style. I am still trying to fine tune this. I do not include Manta Style use by Chaos Knight and Naga Siren. Manta Style use by Morphling and by a hero near or with a Ring of Basilius is often not counted (I'm working on fixing this).

Mask of Madness: Times Used is the number of times the active effect is used. Times Used Other is the number of auto attacks done in which the life steal ability procs and Total Effects Other is the amount healed.

Medallion of Courage: Times Used is the number of times the debuff is placed on any target (includes non-hero targets).

Mekansm: Times Used is the number of times used and Total Effect is the amount healed. Times Used Other is the number of allies hit by the heals.

Hand of Midas: Times Used is the number of times the Midas is used. This is entirely non-hero targets.

Mjollnir: Times Used is the number of times the Chain Lightning procs and Total Effect is the damage done by the procs. Times Used Other is the number of times the Static Charge is placed on a hero.

Monkey King Bar: Times Used is the number of mini-bashes done.

Necronomicon: Times Used is the number of times the minions are summoned and Total Effect is the damage done by those minions against enemy heroes.

Orb of Venom: Times Used is the number of times the slow debuff is applied and Total Effect is the damage done by the Venom.

Orchid of Malevolence: Times Used is the number of times the Orchid is used, Total Effect is the damage done by the Orchid, and Total Effect Other is the number of kills by the Orchid damage.

Phase Boots: Times Used is the number of times the speed effect is used.

Pipe of Insight: Times Used is the number of times the Pipe is Used. Total Effect is the number of allies hit by the Pipe.

Radiance: Total Effect is the damage done by the Radiance burn.

Rod of Atos: Times Used is the number of times the debuff is placed on the target.

Satanic: Times Used Other is the number of times the Unholy effect is activated. Times Used is the number of auto attacks done where the life steal procs and Total Effect is the healing done by those attacks.

Scythe of Vyse: Times Used is the number of times the the hex debuff is placed on a target.

Shadow Blade: Times Used is the number of times the Wind Walk effect is activated.

Shiva's Guard: Times Used is the number of times the active effect is used and Total Effect is the damage done. Times Used Other is the number of heroes hit by the blasts.

Eye of Skadi: Times Used is the number of times the debuff is placed on the target.

Soul Ring: Times Used is the number of times used, Total Effect is the amount of mana restored. Total Effect Other is the amount of health lost.

Tranquil Boots: Times Used is the number of times used, Total Effect is the amount of health healed. The same healing rules described in Bottle are applied here.

Urn of Shadows: Times Used is the total number of times the Urn is used (both healing and damage) and Total Effect is the amount of healing and damage done. Times Used Other is the times used for damage only. Total Effect Other is the total amount of damage done by the urn.

Veil of Discord: Times Used is the number of times used and Times Used Other is the number of heroes hit by the debuff.

Vladmir's Offering: Times Used is the number of auto attacks benefiting from the life steal and Total Effect is the amount of life restored.

Random Trivia: All but three of the above items were used during the group stage of The International 2012. Any guesses on what these three items were? Finding a replay of the last item in a pub game took me about 40 minutes.
